To allow everyone to have more time to carry out this process we have opted to do the migration in 2 phases. The first of which will see your IP addresses change on the standard hosting and reseller accounts but you will remain with the existing system.

Once we have the UK complete we will then carry out the same process on the USA servers.

The second phase will allow resellers and standard hosting customers to migrate over to the new cPanel system.

There may be some downtime in this initial change but we feel that by doing it this way it will allow a much smoother change to cPanel allowing time for everyone to get things setup as you would like.

UK23 and UK4 will switch over tonight followed by UK1 and UK5 tomorrow.

Dedicated servers will have a physical move tomorrow night (Tuesday 29th) and IP addresses will remain the same.

Thank you for your patience while the work is carried out and if you have any questions then please email upgrade@php4hosting.co.uk.

PHP4Hosting migrations are under way!

The billing systems have been incorporated into one which is managed by Asset ICT and we are working hard to upgrade all the servers to the latest technology. New hardware is installed to replace it, however the issue we have is time.

The delay in restoring services stems from the initial time taken to get the old server into a bootable state to recover customers data, we have now recovered the data and are currently in the process of rebuilding the new Xen system and migrating the data to the new server. We have strived to get to the bottom of the problem and resolve it however everytime we think we have fixed the problem it kept coming back.

Finally today after analysis of the logs we are confident we have tracked the problem down. A spammer had guessed the password of a POP3 account enabling them to use that account to send spam. This resulted in high loads, delayed mail and spam complaints.

There has not been a security breach of the server just a guessable password ("thomas")

Customers are reminded that password security is of great importance

Hopefully the problems are now resolved, some mail may have been lost or delayed and there may be some This has caused mail problems.

We are on the last stages of the migration to the new hardware, the majority of the work is being undertaken over night. We are hoping to fully migrate the server on Sunday, this will result in 2-3 hours downtime of services. Updates will be posted here as they happen

-- Update 9:52am --
The upgrade is in progress, POP users will receive a notice telling them the upgrade is in progress and web users will see a holding page.

-- Update 3:21pm --
The upgrade has now been completed. The time taken was due to the amount of data that needed to be synchronised between the old and new servers.

Users have any problems please report them to the usual support contacts so they can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

UK Network Upgrade

One of our UK racks will be rebooted tonight, this will cause some network disruption for a few minutes while power is reset to one of the border gateway routers.
