EU Domain Name Renewal Update

With the first round of .eu expirations now taking place, we'd like to clarify the registry's confusing renewal and expiration process:

- When a .EU name is renewed, the registration year technically ends on the last day of the last month of the term. For example, if a domain name is renewed on April 20, 2007, the registry will apply the renewal on April 30.However, in order to prevent confusion, the whois will display the expiration date as April 20.

- Names that have NOT been renewed expire on their expiration date, and immediately enter a 40-day quarantine/redemption period. During that 40 day period, it can be retrieved by the owner; after the 40 days, it is made available to the public. To reactivate a domain name that is in quarantine, contact support. A redemption fee applies.

Please note that the EU process is NOT the same as the US (.com,.net)

To renew your domain name please visit

phpMyAdmin Updated

We have updated the installed version of PHPMyAdmin across all servers

The installed version is now

phpMyAdmin 2.10.0.2 (All Languages)

The default install is accessable by appending /myadmin/ onto your domain name.

i.e. http://www.yourdomain.com/myadmin/

Users with their own instance should use root as the username and then their MySQL root password. MySQL username/password are not linked to your system accounts. If you are having trouble accessing phpMyAdmin please contact support remembering to include your order number or username.

UK Relocation - Update [Final :)]

The switch's have been re-configured and everything is working correctly now.

UK Relocation - Update

It has come to our attention that there is degraded performance on the segment of the new network.

We are going back in to investigate and resolve this issue. We suspect it’s a switch fault.

UK Relocation

This migration / relocation has now been completed. All servers were shut down at 11:30am, and we started to power servers up from 1pm onwards. All work was completed around 17:30.

All servers will need one more reboot but this will be done in the next two weeks and will only cause a few minutes downtime per machine.

Delayed Accounts Run

Due to upgrades with the accounts system prior to the new system being put into place, there have been some delays with last months billing cycle.

PLANNED MAINTENANCE 12-MAR-2007 23:00 - 13-MAR-2007 05:00 (PST)

One of our US transit provider's (Eli.NET) is upgrading their network. They have advised us that there may be a 30 minute period of downtime while they switch circuits.

This will effect ALL US Services.

Thursday, 1 March 2007

PLANNED MAINTENANCE 10-MAR-2007 09:00-21:00 (Sat)

We are carrying out a maintenance window on Saturday the 10th March 2007.

This will involve a complete relocation of half of our UK network. We migrated the first half in October 2006, and this is the second and final stage in the migration.

Unfortunately the downtime period will be several hours, the servers will be powered down for 2 hours to allow them to cool, then be packed and physically moved to the new location, where they will be re-installed and powered back up. The physical distance is only a matter of a few miles.

This only effects UK services, the US network will remain un-effected.

The period of downtime is estimated to be between 3-5 hours, during this time all services will be unavailable (Mail/Web).

The relocation will be done as quickly as possible but the cooling down period is required to ensure the change of ambient temperature does not damage the equipment.

Server14 (php4hosting site) migration

We are beginning the migration of data from this server to the new hardware.

Users should not be affected; the planned move is Monday evening. This will cause about 1-2 hours downtime in total.

Server14 Update

All files have been recovered and all external services are running (Mail/web/ftp etc..)

Some users instances of MySQL will need manual intervention, but we are working with customers to help them get their sites back up as soon as possible.

We are also installing a new machine to replace the current hardware, and will aim to perform the server swap in the next 7-14 days.

Server14 (php4hosting site) down

The server was running a high load so has been restarted. It will take a few minutes while the disk does its sanity check to ensure data integrity.

Once this is complete the server and all its sites will be back online.

Sorry for any disruption to services

A new version of PHP-4.4.5 is due out shortly, once this is released we will be upgrading servers accordingly.

There should be little noticiable downtime on these upgrades.

Our First Post

Welcome to our blog (Provided by Google)

As a hosting provider we should provide our own hosted blog; however it
seemed to make sense to have a way of leaving messages for customers in the
event of our network being inaccessible (Hopefully something that doesn't
happen often).

We often develop new backend systems or enhancements that don't effect the
day to day running of our service, its easy for customers to think that we
don't do anything. So this will be our chance to keep in contact, and
provide links to useful software we have tested or installed for other
customers that we feel would be helpful to share.
